    Benaud’s brilliance as a commentator. Botham at Old Trafford in 1981 - he was taking the game away from the Aussies, and RB, without bias was pointing out how bone-headed the bowling was “You mustn’t give him room outside the off-stump...the Australians are just not learning”.

    It's Joe Pesci's birthday. Desperate to find a link between Joe and football, we stumbled across a news story where Robbie Williams (Pesci's neighbour) had invited his mates over to watch the match, and they'd parked across the actor's driveway. And Joe... Joe was not pleased.

    Those who coat off Sky when it comes to a virtual monopoly of cricket coverage would be wrong. Sky merely picked up the baton and do it very well. However, the ECB ought to make sure there is always something on terrestrial TV - it’s in everyone’s interest. As for the BBC...
