/10 Don't impose your red lines on me. A short thread. Apart from the absolute, justified outrage about the antisemitism which has infected the heart of Labour, there is plenty of debate about what to do about it. Generally, there are three arguments.

/10 A: I can't take any more, I'm leaving. I have a lot of sympathy for this, and it's probably only inertia which has stopped me cutting up my card on at least 2 occasions. I have real respect for those who have been forced out, whether to align with another party or none.

/10 B: I'm staying, I'm fighting. This sort of where I am, although TBF I don't have the energy that I expended in the 80s taking on Militant and their thugs. But I know my vote will have an impact this week, next week, sometime (hopefully not 'never' to complete the phrase).

/10 C: You're staying, You're signing letters of complaint. But you're still campaigning for Corbyn. You're an ineffective, cowardly hypocrite. This boils my piss. As does the absolute sanctimonious clap-trap that is peddled by (some, not all) supporters of this line.

/10 And it's this last position with which I wish to take exception. The inevitable conclusion of the mantra that all Labour MPs, councillors, activists, even ordinary members should just turn their back on the antisemitism within Labour is truly alarming.

/10 Walk away, and you walk away from a (still) major political party. An organisation with four national HQs, nine regional offices, hundreds of staff, a T/O north of £40m and a pension fund in excess of £100m. Not to mention all those vacancies for MPs and Councillors.

/10 Walk away, and the net result is you consolidate the power and the views. Antisemitism won't just be tolerated in an institutionally racist organisation. It will be debated at conference; espoused by anti-Semites of the left as parliamentary and council candidates.

/10 Walk away and the most powerful beacon against antisemitism this country has ever seen is extinguished. For ever. So that's why, currently, I'm staying. I'm adopting the tactics of the entryists. I'm not interested in winning government. I'm interested in winning the Party.

/10 And then, when we've won the Party, we can we win the government again to fulfil our aims and objectives, to implement our manifesto based on Clause IV. Will I walk away - no (I reserve the right to change my mind). Will I campaign for Corbyn to be PM? Guess.

/10 Whether you stay, whether you leave, you have my support, not my criticism. In or out we are united against the antisemites. These are my red lines. You can keep yours to yourself.

Walk away and the most powerful beacon against anti-Semitism this country has ever seen is extinguished? Can you explain this statement please?
