No, the issues is that they don’t think people should make money off of ads while discussing sensitive topics like child abuse. They say: keep talking about it, but don’t make money off of it. It’s important to support these conversations however we can https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6162278#not_eligible …

That's an interesting philosophy. Should TV networks like A&E that allocate millions to shows exposing abuse like the Aftermath series decline any return in terms of ad revenue, or is this moralizing limited to exJW YouTubers?

YouTube obviously owns their platform and can make their own rules separately from tv networks, but I think the more compelling argument you can make is that your content brings people to YouTube, who then watch other videos which generate revenue. That could be seen as grifting

Anyone can make rules. That doesn't make the rules fair. As a creator I'm entitled to say if I'm being treated unfairly. But you seem to support the trope that work done to expose abuse should be done pro-bono just so long as it isn't being done by lawyers, journalists or celebs.

I can read your tweet as many times as you like. It still won't make sense.

I support your mission. I’m not coming at you. I posted to clarify the issue. You are saying I think things I don’t.

If your support involves suggesting I'm being in any way exploitative because my professional activism includes exposing abuse, I'd rather you give this sort of "support" to someone else quite honestly.

Lloyd, it looks like Bertram is in support of you like the rest of us are. He is just pointing out the stance that Youtube took. Turn down the sensitivity, I know it’s a stressful topic but don’t alienate your supporters

He did more than point out YouTube's stance, which I'm well aware of. He repeatedly insisted that nobody should be making money from human tragedy, which is ludicrous - or if he really believes it, there are many he should be turning to first. I don't need "support" like that.

I didn’t mean to make Lloyd feel like a target. I’m just speaking on how I appreciate the patreon model and I understand and support YouTube’s stance on demonetizing videos under that umbrella. Lloyd seems to thrive as a “target”. Lloyd against the world. I still support him tho

I have not found Lloyd to be that way tbh. I know what it’s like to be under financial stress and can only imagine the frustration of putting in hard work on what should have been several popular videos only to find out you did it for free.
