(1/3) After nearly three years of living in the Bay Area my family has decided to relocate back to the East Coast. We have landed in Charlotte and are excited to be living in one of the fastest growing US cities. With that said, I will be leaving SPUR at the end of September...

The BIG Q: “As ⁦⁦⁩ works to build a more sustainable and vibrant downtown, how might we shift behavior around how people come to and enjoy events at the SAP Center?” ⁦

What if we address the economic impacts of systemic racism head-on, so that poverty, homelessness and hunger are rare and episodic, not a permanent way of life? Follow to reimagine a Bay Area where we close the racial wealth and well-being gap

San Jose friends if you or anyone you know lives in D9 please keep an eye out for my cat Penelope who is lost. We are so devastated but hoping she finds her way home soon! She is microchipped and wearing a collar.

Encampments are only the symptom. Demand every single affordable development includes ELI. Fund it. Prioritize PSH in every city. Demand it. Raise minimum wage. Fund UBI. Use all the hotels. Services, yes. Stop talking about moving camps. Demand we solve homelessness instead.

The failed F-35 program is costing us $1.7 trillion. That's enough to house all homeless people in the United States 28 times over.

Fines and fees are an often-overlooked aspect of California’s criminal legal system. A recent SPUR forum took a close look at the role these charges play in a starkly inequitable, illogical and unjust system. Check out our article here

"Cities can make parks feel safe and accommodating for housed and unhoused residents alike". Thank you for highlighting SPUR & 's new toolkit which teaches our communities how we may coexist.

The most rewarding initiative I have worked on! It also made me acutely aware of how little we engage with people experiencing homelessness in community planning. I hope you find joy in reading this report & ideas for achieving coexistence. Thank you for the support!

I forgot to move my car on one of the 2x weekly street cleaning days. The penalty: $73 + $2 processing fee to pay via an app. These are the mundane, regressive tax moments that enrage me. Even at the $12/hour CA minimum wage, this is a full day salary for some. Unacceptable.

This is not a “disruption” or a “protest.” Words matter. This is an attempted coup carried out by terrorists and enabled by a sitting US president.

It's possible to celebrate people excelling in current systems while pushing for future ones to be better. Ex: Billionaires should pay their fair share in taxes AND giving away $5 billion+ in unrestricted funding to non-profits in ONE YEAR is super impressive.

Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, California had the highest poverty rate in the nation. We need process improvement to help Californians receive the public support they have a right to.
