. @OECD online library: how do i hate thee, let me count the ways... Oh how i hate that these publications which have been paid for by our governments are in a walled garden for subscribers. And to add insult to injury there is no search function in the library viewer

Replying to @MForstater @OECD
I am in complete agreement. Was aghast when I was in the bookshop in the OECD building and realised that the reports cost money, and were expensive too!

I don't mind charges for dead tree versions, but not for pdf . I wonder how much they make from physical book sales vs online subscriptions

Income from print is around 10% of all sales income, rest from digital and digital+print subs. BTW - was puzzled by your comment about search function, can you elaborate? ILibrary has a search function at top of screen, under iLibrary logo.

It’s a pleasure and thank you for commenting. I think I’ve got it now, you’re looking for a search function within our Read editions - right? Not sure if we can do this for all titles (when authors give us ‘dumb’ files) but we might for others. I’ll discuss with our geeks.

Hi Toby. I hadn't realised that you just launched a new front end to iLibrary. I wasn't being curmudgeonly about that
just sounding off at frustration at lack of search w/in OECD Reader. I'm surprised if no one has said this before: it's a huge lack of functionality for users3 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
New platform launched last week, much improved speed and search. Point taken about search in our Read versions, but new platform also opens door to web versions of some new titles. These might be easier to use esp on mobile devices.
