Agree that measures should never be taken solely "to take away the populists tools", but this is not the case imo. Luxleaks and competition cases show that its not just empty "ramping up" the idea that some are not paying their way but that there is a problem with rules.

But indeed: French ministers applauding GAFA-taxes is a) populist itself en b) unproductive for framing of EU proposals which is already precarious.
