Isn't the point of something like the Tax Mark that this kind of thing should be explained transparently?

I don't understand how FTM works to be honest. The criteria all relate to published accounts etc (apart from 'we will exercise discretion' rider). But there is an NDA . What is looked at under NDA? What Qs asked beyond public criteria? How is good/bad practice judged?

I am still hoping Paul explains the two oddities.

To be fair, I've no reason to think Paul dislikes me, and he's not answering my questions either.

Eh, I don't dislike Maya. I think we've enjoyed a cordial beer or two, albeit yonks ago. But I"be been schooled in climate change debate and have seen how much wasted effort has gone into 'debate" with polemicists.

Why are you so confident you’re on the right side of the argument, Paul? Isn’t it possible you’ve given a Fair Tax Mark to a tax avoider, and criticised a business that isn’t avoiding tax?

Dan, like you, my background is the natural sciences and I've always been shocked at the degree to which financial accounts can arrive at multiple endpoints. "Profitability" really is optional in many instances. Having said which I stand by what said and all FTM certifications.

And let"s be honest
#taxtwitter largely represents a particular political view - and lots of people give it a wide berth for this reason. Your views are certainly material (your"s in particular), which is why am happy to listen & engage (but only up to a point).2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
If you're on twitter talking about tax thats #taxtwitter It is a broad church from left to right & from qualified geeks to interested generalists. I don't think @p_sfitz & @alexcobham share a particular political view, for example! Its one of few places that breaks down the silos
