No thanks Maya. Am doing my best not to engage with polemics right now. Life"s too short

It's a question not a polemic. Seems like a reasonable question for
@FairTaxMark to have a view on. It must have come up in the certification process for@AMTCoffee? Or Technical Committee?@alexcobham @_DavidQuentin@RichardJMurphy1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

It's a question from a polemicist - someone who regularly rips into NGOs on governance, but has little to say on what's emerging at the IoD. Someone who has the time to critique contributions of the third sector but rarely comments on the misdemenours of the Big Four.

That seems unfair to me. Maya works in development so naturally that is the area she engages in. She is often challenging but always polite. Surely you should welcome and engage in genuine debate, even if you don’t happen to like the questioner?

But its not genuine debate Heather. If it was I would engage - within reason. The question is tied up with mean-spirited stuff from a couple of weeks ago that I took issue with. Anyhow, work to do...

But the mystery remains - why did Fair Tax Mark okay a company with two significant questions: the director loans and the possible profit-shifting. At this point it looks like you didn't consider these.

Spin-off discussions derived from questions from polemicists are covered by non-engage policy. Rest assured we looked at everything covered by our criteria.

Isn't the point of something like the Tax Mark that this kind of thing should be explained transparently?

An effective tax transparency standard needs trust of large business as well as NGOs, public opinion etc. IMO this requires input across stakeholders mediated by an honest broker (eg BSI). FTM's proprietary nature will be obstacle to wider take-up regardless of tech qualities

Yes, tho BSI tends to be a follower, consolidating best practice once established, not really brokering early disparate debates. Social & environmental labels tend to be set first by more activist pathfinders, but w process & governance stds e.g. https://www.isealalliance.org/
