Oh dear. Dina’s in the mood for a twitter fight... I don’t have in mind making people ill!

I'm definitely not in the mood for a fight. Here's what you seemed to say that you might consider doing: https://twitter.com/owenbarder/status/970576115281653761?s=20 …

I’ll send you my thinkpiece. See what you make of it. I think an interesting question is whether LNB principle applies to all SDGs. I argue that if LNB just means end poverty it was hardly worth saying...

Thanks for sending me that. I still wonder what lies behind a statement that it might be a good idea to hurt some people's health to reduce inequality. I can't by the life of me see how that's consistent with respect for the dignity of human life.

In owen’s hypothetical world it’s not just as simple as saying “no problem” if one group way healthier than another group over a long period of time. The healthy group should itself consider slowing its health gains if it is ethical.

In education, this is why in my view targets should be tracked for most disadvantaged group - not using parity index which unfortunately what is being used (as you can achieve parity while everyone has low levels of education and health). It uses same data http://deliver2030.org/?p=6214

In my view, we should def be concerned about gaps in education, not just all groups meeting minimum standards. Does that mean curtailing high levels of educational achievement at the top for the sake of more equal opportunities for all? Difficult question. But a serious one...

This discussion begs the question how you feel about inheritance tax?

I LOVE INHERITANCE TAX. possibly the greatest of all the taxes, apart from carbon tax.pic.twitter.com/tu82afFymF

Yes inheritance tax is a good idea. I'm not sure current UK inheritance tax is loveable though. Too many reliefs (on businesses, farms, homes) and too complicated (but I'm no expert).

I neither find inheritance tax 'good' or fair in itself but support it because I believe the ills of inequality warrants it.
