And the changes in 2013 had to be toned down in order to be compliant with the Procurement Directive https://www.pinsentmasons.com/PDF/Analysisnewprocurement.pdf …

Not so long ago public procurement preferring Fairtrade and Living Wage was viewed as illegal. Now commonplace. We are going to make the same happen on tax dodgers. Gonna engage local, national and EU levels. Happy to work with all who have common aims.

The EU Directive allows for social & enviromental stds linked to product/service being directly procured, but not general group wide policies (of course Directives can be changed, but its not a straight parallel w current treatment of fairtrade and living wage)pic.twitter.com/ldHORMEt8j

And as Sarah Mark argued so clearly those rules are there for good reason. Its not just jobsworthiness, naysaying, bat-poo crazy neocons and neoliberals or what have you... so needs to be taken seriously.pic.twitter.com/2QCPewyzGl

Nah, harking back to some peak-Thatcher, values-devoid, Friedmanesque procurement era is not something to be celebrated. The world has moved on. Sarah's thesis strikes me as profoundly anti Social Enterprise, and surprised to see you laud it Maya

The concern about corruption is entirely legitimate, particularly when Paul & Co haven’t been able to identify a single objective criteria.

Of course, Fair Tax Mark and TJN are anti- corruption?! But you, Maya and Iain are lauding positions that would strip social value out of public procurement (under an anti corruption guise). I suspect not grasped regressive impact of position you backed

Sorry what? Sarah linked to Durham CCs Sustainable Procurement Strategy & lauded them as at forefront of social value. She went on to explain danger of more general, subjective & non product related criteria on corruption grounds. Recognising 2nd is not attacking 1st!

Murphy then accused her of libel and having a secret agenda motives. The procurement community is going to be really enthusiastic about engaging in this project.
