"As do many, I often wonder what your true agenda is" I can exclusively reveal Maya's shadowy agenda: getting things right.
I'll just take it as my annual reminder that its not worth trying to have a conversation on Professor Murphy's blog. It is striking that members of the Tax Justice movement, NGO allies, sympathetic academics etc... also tend to steer clear.
Dan, the manner in which you rip into TJN is far more aggressive and insulting than RM"s post above - which seems pretty tame to me. And Maya"s casting aspirations above at least as significant and mean (and wrong from what I've seen). Bit of perspective needed methinks
Show me a case where I've responded to an argument by questioning someone's motives and ignoring all the substance.
This is all very "Man City": bemoan lack of protection from referees and then go in on opposition with studs up and two-footed tackle. #glasshouses
Paul - I don't think the football match analogy is all that useful. Blog post authors should not be in a win-lose game with their commenters. What would be the point of that when we share a common goal?
Hi Maya, I read all your & Dan's posts as they provide an impt perspective and sometimes (it seems to me) that you are factually correct. So thks for that. But am not buying this 'common goal' stuff. There are too many tax dodge enablers out there
I think the common goal is sustainable development, or to take it down a level, inclusive business, productive economies, effective states, or to take it down a level clearer conversations between practitioners, biz, civil society, policy makers.
