i'm an ass, soo much of the time. but one thing i try to do is express extreme enthusiasm about another way of doing things so rather than "you are ****" or even "this is ***" but "wouldn't it be awesome if.... it'd be fascinating to see... i'd love to know... could we test?"

[but that, as you know Maya, is genuine enthusiasm for the alternative. feigned enthusiasm is usually transparent, obvious, and awful. i read a blog the other day that criticised common practices & suggested alternatives with 5 exclamation marks. it seemed fake. & i grimaced]
