Yes I agree Lee. If the question is 'who wrote the development bestsellers' the the answer will objectively is a list of male authors. But I guess the original question for Justine Greening's briefing was not this but something more like "What Should I Know About Development?"
and 'can I have a bluffer's guide on the authors who will be routinely quoted to a Conservative Development Minister'.
Duncan – if you had played it down as ‘a bluffers guide to the development bestsellers’ rather than played it up as ‘the top 10 thinkers’ I think the reaction would have been different….
…& that's the thing – attributes associated w men (and white, Oxbridge/Ivy League types etc.) are often played up in our minds – as signs of leadership, reliability, importance, potential etc… and then piled on with more. The point is to notice this tendency [and the converse]
