      The breakdowns of value chain into percentage value add sections (for melons,Apple etc..) don’t tell us if individuals are better or worse off through involvement in GVCs though

      So we have evidence that: - extreme poverty is falling, partly due to globalisation; - $10/day poverty has also fallen over the past 50 years, tho not in the past decade (i don't know how this relates to globalisation); - global value chains are marked by poverty wages.

      The charts show how much of the GVC goes to workers. They do not show benefits relative to no integration, or relative to integration on better terms. Nor (environmental/ health) costs.

      Yes. There's lots of research on this. You've read https://chrisblattman.com/2016/09/29/14655/ … But we can also agree wages are low & could be improved. So the question is how?

      Well, if you scroll up, there's been rapid poverty reduction if you look at extreme poverty. But BS questions this measure. Workers are still trapped in poverty, not on living wages.

          Well, that graph suggest they do in both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh...? And that's just legally mandated minimum wages, not practices. You also need to cross-check with compliance, which varies considerably.
