Were it that simple.. Roll call of tax cases is like a Regimental list of Honours: Plassey, not Dunkirk. Barclays Mercantile, not Ramsay.

1/2 For too long, dominant tax narrative was: 'this issue is oh so complex: go away plebs'. That bubble long burst and no going back

2/2 In truth, tax far simpler issue than, say, Fairtrade & role of child labour on family plot, or how biz responds to Neonics or Shale Gas

So, as an example,when an article accuses a company of avoiding tax by using a previous year’s losses, is that avoidance?

If it were so simple why do bigger cases go through entire legal process, incl Supreme Court, often with judgements moving at each level?

That happens with multitude of issues: my point is that 'tax' is not especially complex

And let's be honest: the tax avoidance industry has captured the process at multiple levels to serve its own ends. Altho changing slowly

Pronouncing fairness across jurisdictions does not seem so simple. For example no @fairtaxmark criteria for non-UK MNCs yet.
