      A compendium of misunderstandings (inc. Zambia loosing 1/2 of GDP!). It’s almost as if applying HR lens doesn’t help understand tax issues

      Hmm. 2 separate issues. Conceptual misunderstandings, that's a problem. But the crux of the human rights argument is relevant nonetheless

      HR argument always seems to rest on misunderstood huge numbers. Seems like a fundamental problem to showing HR frame practical use on this

      Still two different issues for me. Even if the number was $1 lost to IFF/tax av/ev mechanisms, HR arguments apply (but wd not be as potent)

      How about if $1 was lost through inefficiency? Both are important. Just not clear to me that HR lens adds practical information.

      (sorry, not tax) I mean if a gov loses $1 thru mismanagement/waste - similar impact on services. Not obvious HR lawyers the ppl to fix it!

      Not sure tax is uniquely different from other factors. If HR accepted as a lens then arguably everything ends up as a HR issue?

      Bingo! Why *shouldn't* tax be HR issue? HR broad & accepted angle on labour, environment, climate, etc. Why should it be irrelevant to tax?

      Yes. Thats the point. Govt clearly has HR resplities & needs revenues. Taxpayers shld comply w law. Not sure what more does HR lens add?
