@MForstater what, I think, we need is short reserved periods for mum and dad, with the residuum properly funded and fully transferable
@JolyonMaugham I think opposite - mums' leave 4 pregnancy/birth/recovery period + standard parent leave on a use-it-or-lose-it basis 4 all

@MForstater not that much difference actually: I would add only a reserved period of dad's leave to your suggestion -
