If you're going to bring your eldest son to a conference to see you speak, put him on a slide and wave to him from stage :) #dadops
@drnic Sadly this doesn't work for mums - being mumsy on stage doesn't carry the same respect as being dadsy.

@MForstater Perhaps do it anyway. I did it for my son's sake to make him feel welcome and so he thinks "I can talk to adults too one day". -
@drnic - its a nice idea. sorry to be a downer. Its just most conference panels i see are 80-100% male. - 1 more reply

@MForstater I want to demystify for him the magic about what sort of people are allowed to speak to audiences; even his silly dad is allowedThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@MForstater bonus idea: assume you have all the respect you need already from the audience and spend it as you wish; skip the "earning" stepThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@MForstater when you're on stage, the audience gives you the respect because you are up there and they are humbly watching.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@MForstater I think you can earn bonus respect once the audience hears what you have to say and how you say it; but you do start with some:)Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
