1/2 I've had a few queries like this following my piece on the latest Scottish government consultation on GRA reform...according to the Guardian's style guide, we now use cisgender/cis to mean a person who identifies as the gender they were assigned at birth...https://twitter.com/CroneInAMillion/status/1207006442689040384 …

If the Guardian were told by trans women that they didn't like the language it used to describe them, there would be a change to this style guide within minutes. I'm sure this will work just as well for "cis women".... not.

The irony is that Trans Rights organisations did indeed tell the
@guardian the language to use and was implemented by@KathViner

'Innate essence of femininity' reminds me of my teens when they started marketing vaginal deodorant...

This 'style guide' is grossly offensive, in need of review+also wrong. I don't have a gender - I certainly wouldn't identify w it had I. Why ascribe to others definitions they don't recognise: >98% pop then have the gall to demand definitions are ascribed catering: <2% pop? Stop!

It's just horrible. It's distressing. I have never gone along with gender. It is reductive/limiting for one, now ur trying to say I have to be classed not as ME but as to what I am NOT!?
sod it. I can't identity as myself but how others see me- how does that square w/ equality? - 1 more reply
