Its weird because the EqA doesn't specifically recognise "need for protection from sex based violence" AFAIK (?) All the single sex exemptions are symmetrical (apart from in practice, sport) recognising that there are times & places where it is appropriate to have *privacy*....
also meeting specific needs, freedom of association. The Equality Act says "proportionate means to a legitimate aim". It does not specify "protection from sex based violence" as THE reason for providing services where men (including nice men!) are excluded

Well, at least the EHRC understands males pose a threat in female-only spaces. Yet they refuse to acknowledge that’s the reason why women fought for single-sex spaces to begin with...Strange inconsistency.

Perhaps I should say ‘one of the reasons’ women fought for female-only spaces. Safety, privacy, dignity - and just basic preference! We are entitled to these spaces & I’m heartily sick of governments pretending they are theirs to give away!
