Yes i agree. It is a good starting point. The thing is we have provisions for women - e.g. single sex spaces: refuges, prisons, changing rooms, women's sports. These were set up in recognition that for equality & inclusion in public life, sometimes sex needs to be considered

These things are protected w rights. These rights are not about what women wear, whether they identify with feminine ideals or gender norms. They are just determined by sex. There is no right way to live as a woman, in fact that is a sexist idea we are trying to get away from.

So going back to your Q why should a male's lived experience of having a feminine gender identity grant them access to facilities and rights that were set up for members of the opposite sex -- given that this will disadvantage those people that the rights were established for?

I would want to retain data collection & human rights protections based on sex (which includes the right not to be discriminated for being gender non-conforming in appearance). Different beliefs about gender identity can be accommodated, just like different beliefs about gods.
