What safeguarding risks does it mention? Only one. Telling parents. Parents who think their child might have other issues driving their unhappiness, and might not actually need to be taping their genitals or binding their breasts are called "unsupportive" .

The old guide gave guidance on different scenarios for working with parents including where one or both parents are "unsupportive" (i.e. they don't accept that their child must transition) The new guide suggests considering making a safeguarding referral in these cases!

The new guide says "There is nothing in the statutory guidance that would prohibit trans children and young people from using the toilets or changing rooms that reflect their gender identity, or in which they feel most comfortable."

In fact it says the Equality Act supports children to access toilets that correspond to their gender identity (NB: it doesn't. The equality act doesn't mention gender identity, it talks about sex and 'gender reassignment' and allows single sex services.pic.twitter.com/bRC0EHmvAH

At least they took this awful bit of gaslighting! If a child complains about changing w a members of the opposite sex, misinform them about the EqA & pretend it says something about gender and gender identity! Present single sex facilities as akin to racial segregation!

Something new: PE & Fitness "Schools should aim to reduce as far as possible segregating children and young people by gender" (they mean sex) ...so translated that means "Schools should reduce *as far as possible* girls PE, sports teams, competitions etc... "

*As far as possible*! No recognition that there is a benefit for girls as they go into puberty of being able compete in female only sports. These opportunities should be reduced as far as possible

The new guide emphasises suicide -- it says this - (NB: this research is not about 'trans kids'pic.twitter.com/z4zPIMXf2R

GIDS says suicide is very rare and "Suicidality in young people attending the GIDS is similar to that of young people referred to child and adolescent mental health services. It is not helpful to suggest that suicidality is an inevitable part of this condition. "
