Amnesty are calling for a change in UK law to "allow all trans people to legally register their 'true gender' (incl 'nonbinary') regardless of their age". There are different views on this; child welfare and women's rights and other equality implications

Remember they refused to help tortured gay prisoners in the 70’s saying they were not political prisoners
-
And they’ve never apologized

They've lost my sub now

Any plenty of others I would guess. When I think how many letters I wrote to political prisoners in the past under their excellent scheme, I could weep at this.

Amnesty International has quite a few positions that do not directly flow from mandatory international statute. From wide abortion rights to this issue to sex work. They are an activist organization, not a legal body, and as such they have their own position.
-
So its all good they've published no analysis in relation to impact on women, or careful assessment in relation to child sex self ID? We should just trust that they've thought it through & made sure this position supports the org's purpose? No. I think we can expect better.

really?
Can you point to the UDRH article please?
You can't just go round making up new rights, it undermines the whole idea of rights & you as a serious org!

Doesn't Amnesty know something about women's human rights themself?
Why didnt they do any analysis themself?
