As a charity that spends £20m a year they could have done some research and thought this through carefully. They could point us to the research paper which underpins their advocacy campaign But they haven't (yet -- if it is there please do Amnesty)

Instead their statement includes startling claims "Everyone has the right to be who they say they are" Really?
really?
Can you point to the UDRH article please?
You can't just go round making up new rights, it undermines the whole idea of rights & you as a serious org!pic.twitter.com/4mkxXcAtPZ

& the idea that children (& parents) should keep a child's sex secret from GP, hospital, school ... & encourage a growing child to lie about their sex & fear that if others discover it they will do the them harm. How does this reconcile w child welfare & safeguarding Amnesty?pic.twitter.com/77Jjk6nRac

What is noticeable is that none of
@AmnestyUK senior staff@KateAllenAI@tomdavies77@felixjakens@NiallCouper have tweeted the campaign. Nor has the chair of trustees@eilidhdouglas. Maybe they are unconvinced ?Show this thread -
Interestingly enough none of them seem to have tweeted Amnesty's earlier position campaigning on changing the Gender Recognition Act self-ID either

Amnesty's position matched Stonewall's & Mermaids'. "Transwomen are women" There will be no impact on single sex services "There is no evidence from countries implementing a self-determination system that this has had any impact of anyone except trans people themselves. "pic.twitter.com/JLOR7SbEY5

How did they come to this position? What research did they do? Under the heading "Women's Human Rights" they say..... .... they talked to Stonewall & Mermaids....
Doesn't Amnesty know something about women's human rights themself?
Why didnt they do any analysis themself?pic.twitter.com/RrJ041NIn3

As a charity whose mandate is to promote human rights as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
@AmnestyUK it is the Trustees' *collective* responsibility to ensure that the charity pursues its purpose. Not take dictation from@Mermaids_Gender or@stonewallukShow this thread -
Please step up now grown ups. It is past time You are making your organisations look foolish and undermining support for human rights.
