Maya, totally in your corner. My metaphor won’t survive legal scrutiny I know. But the point is that self-ID bullies will destroy all that has been achieved on equality during the past 50 years - for example, making accurate pay gap reporting - gender or ethnicity - impossible.

Yes! And misrepresentation of the Equality Act --> policies that bully women. On NHS ward if a female patient complains because the person in the next bed is male, nurses must say "this is a female ward, there are no men here", and treat her as a problemhttps://twitter.com/Scottish_Women/status/1198260352821149697?s=19 …

Can you explain why it legally doesn't work? Also what do you think of this definition of woman?https://twitter.com/TransRadically/status/1199750570787119109 …

Because it's an in invasion of privacy. Someone should not have to declare their intimate surgery to strangers (and the last thing a woman wants to do on encountering a male person unexpectedly in a woman's space is to enquire about their genitals )

I think that genital surgery should be a requirement for a GRC barring truly exceptional circumstances. That would be perfectly legitimate. Personally I think a two-stage system would be best.

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that that would not be legal. A number of European countries do still have such a rule I believe but the UK GRA2004 doesn't require it and could not I think now change to require it.
