Just a gentle reminder that standing up for women's rights is not in-and-of-itself transphobic. Yes a small minority of people are using this issue as a mask for transphobia, but most of the feminists involved will & do fight for fundamental rights of trans (& indeed all) people.

When have Woman's Place, FPFW, Transgender Trend, Resisters, LGB Alliance or any other GC organisation condemned or spoken out against the transphobia you acknowledge exists within the GC movement? Because without that they aren't fighting very hard for those fundamental rights.

Very early on in its existence, @Womans_Place_UK spoke out about transphobia and have refused to platform people who are transphobic. It has continued to do so. WPUK are principled left wing (mostly union member) women who will fight for everyone's fundamental human rights

They might have spoken out against societal transphobia, but I've never heard them condemn transphobia within the GC movement. And these groups are 'moderates', I didn't mention Venice, Posie, Sheila, Julia et al.

I'm sorry but from this perspective it doesn't look much like the transphobes are a small minority. And its them doing the groundwork, attending meetings, organising pile ons, putting up stickers. That's why @Womans_Place_UK won't condemn, they are the bedrock of the movement.

I appreciate that the small.minority who shout the loudest make the quieter majority look bad. But if you are willing to engage with WPUK you will meet a group of women who have spent their lives fighting for human rights for all vulnerable and marginalised individuals and groups

I don't get this equation of quiet with good, loud with bad. Being loud can be a good tactic, as can talking quietly. There is no "moderate" view or reasonable expression of it that doesn't get u branded a transphobe. It is fear of this & real consequences that keeps people quiet

I think 'quietness' can be associated with some of the more negative aspects of femininity. Sometimes to be heard we have to speak loudly, to engage in spirited debate, to articulate views that are controversial, and/or which some people may find distressing.

Surely the point is what is being said not the volume. And that the more virulent transphobia will be amplified by the right wing media and Evangelicals.
