Yes me too. They are not a service providing organisation. They are not directly supporting vulnerable women and also trying to influence policy. Their core mandate is research, education, leading debate. They could have stepped up.

Exactly. What is their purpose if not to amplify women's voices & enable these difficult conversations. They're necessary precisely because some people find them difficult. The answer in such times is not to draw down the shutters & hide
@fawcettsociety should be lighting the way -
And the fact that women's orgs would not step up & say 'this is an important & difficult conversation' enabled all of the crap about women's concerns being a front for the religious right. By saying nothing they delegitimise the women who do speak up, & leave them open to attack.
