I have had so much support from all over the country & internationally. But I can count on my hands the people I know in the development & NGO sector who have been willing to publicly speak up for me & the principle I am upholding. It always makes me cry. I don’t mind admitting I’m afraid of losing friends and colleagues over it. Some will say: well if you speak up for hateful bigots, you get what you deserve. That - crazy though it seems to me - is how things stand.

It's ridiculous how brave you have to be, just to speak up for the ability to have a clear discussion on this; an issue of public policy, an issue in the party manifestos .
