That is precisely what
@MForstater Employment Tribunal will decide. Whether the belief in gender identity (or more importantly for her, the non-belief) constitutes a protected philosophical belief under the Equality Act. I think it does, as it meets the Grainger v Nicolson test1 reply 2 retweets 18 likes -

Oh, I see, thank you. I would have thought it was simply an opinion, and one that is tricky to substantiate. But I can see from what you say that this is a way of approaching it legally. I wonder how the law distinguishes between opinion and philosophical belief.

It means you shouldnt face discrimination for believing or not believing. Like you shouldn't face discrimination in employment or as a service user for being a Catholic, or not being a Catholic, say.
