      Judge Postle: to be protected, “The belief must have a similar status or cogency to religious beliefs ... Clearly, having a belief relating to an important aspect of human life or behaviour is not enough in itself for it to have a similar status or cogency to a religious belief.”

      Judge found that as vegetarians can have many different reasons for being vegetarian (environmental, health, animal welfare and so on) that vegetarianism does not satisfy the test of cogency. Contrast to veganism - this does, the judge said, have cogency and cohesion about it.

      I'd like to read the judgement but that seems odd to me: people are, say, christian for many different reasons - and they don't all believe in the same things anyway. Having cogent reasons for being religious is not what being religious is all about. 1/2
