Thank you for responding. Just to be clear. The concern is not about how *individuals* can talk to you. It is: why not just do what the EqA allows: offer single sex accommodation. There is no need to ask anyone to justify why they don't want to bunk w members of the opposite sex
Maya - absolutely nowhere in that policy does it say that people have to disclose "the details" of abuse to "earn" any rights, and It really is quite irresponsible of you to spread this kind of nonsense.
Yes it does. You are invited to get in touch with customer care if you "meet the criteria" and your request will be considered on a "case by case" basis. What is the "case" they will consider with no information?pic.twitter.com/8tvpzlUQwq
@YHAOfficial - they've said they are reviewing so lets hope they realise it is legitimate and proportionate to provide single sex facilities when people are sharing a bedroom with strangers.
This is disgraceful. So women have to wait until they’re abused, to be entitled to single sex accommodation. And unbelievable that they expect women, who often have never told anyone at all, to tell an absolute stranger, with no sefeguarding, about their abuse.
A girlfriend & I were just 15 when we went youth hosteling in the Lakes. Parents ok as YHA seen as protecting organisation. Would we have been allowed after all this shit? Pfft. Another freedom gone for girls. @JamesBlakeYHA
It also disregards the power imbalances inherent in sex based violence & a culture which encourages women to internalise shame & blame. Many women take time to admit to themselves (let alone others) that their relationship is abusive or that they've been raped.
