.@HJJoyceEcon sets out the problem the Yaniv case poses for people espousing sex self ID, who are also unwilling to condemn homeworking beauticians as bigots for saying NO to handling male genitals. Can this be reconciled by 'hes not really trans' , 'she's just a bad apple'? (no)https://twitter.com/Quillette/status/1154591062976892928 …

I've asked people who've told me that belief that women are female is exclusionary & unacceptable how they apply this to the case. Answers: 1.Silence 2.'its too hot right now' 3.'Twitter (DM) is not the right forum' 4. 'I'm too busy' 5. I'm not the right person to ask

Our brains throw up smoke to give us some reason to avoid dealing with cognitive dissonance. Even when its when it's obvious they are bad reasons, we go along with them because the alternative of disagreeing with our tribe of 'good people' is too painful

Here is a handhold out of the smoke: some people believe sex is important. Some don't. Some people believe everyone has an innate gender identity, more important than sex. Some don't. Both beliefs are worthy of respect. No one is a bigot for believing that sex is real & important
