Having a gender identity isn’t a belief though. It’s an objective reality and supported by decades of medical and psychological evidence. A gender identity is also recognised but the ECtHR as protected under Article 14.

What are the objective criteria for identifying someone's gender identity?

The mountains of research over 50 plus years... of course there’s been decades more research if it wasn’t for the Nazis who burned it all! Objectively the way trans people react to hormones is a confirmation - cis people given cross sex hormones react badly, trans people thrive!

Saying people are cis assumes they have a gender identity. Most people in the world don't take cross sex hormones so how do they know if they have a gender identity? Not all people who say they experience a gender identity seek to take hormones.

But everyone does have a gender identity. Only when it’s congruent with your anatomical sex you don’t think about it. A gender identity is nothing to do with gender roles! Most people don’t take cross sex hormones, but when a trans person does their mood improves. (1)

When (rarely) a cis person takes them their mood plummets! No, not everyone with a gender identity seeks hormone therapy for various reasons, that doesn’t invalidate their gender identity! (2)

I thought everyone has a gender identity? What are the objective criteria for me to identify what mine is?

You know you’re not a man right. You don’t have to check your genitalia to know you’re a woman. You have never had your chromosomes checked to see if you’re XX. All that is the objective reality of your gender identity. Self awareness: the defining characteristic of humans!

I know i am a woman because i have a female body. That is how I know.

Then you are an incredibly un self aware individual! An animal knows it’s male or female despite anatomy; but Maya Forstater doesn’t!

If these are objective criteria you would be able to tell what my gender identity is. Or tell me how i could identify what it is?

But that’s the point: no one can tell you what your gender identity is; but it’s still objectively something which people experience. There’s not a test: but it can still be shown to be real.
