Only beliefs worthy of protection in a democratic society. I genuinely cannot wait to hear the argument that beliefs against human rights are worthy of such protection. But @Docstockk clearly disagrees that any beliefs are worthy of protection, so popcorn out for the GC wars.

Lol. I don't think so. The fact that belief in islam or christianity are covered by the Equality Act does not mean that these beliefs (or others) should be the basis for other legislation.

Christians and Muslims only have their beliefs protected in so far as they cannot be discriminated against for those beliefs. You want your beliefs to be protected so you can discriminate against others!

It's strange how you want to compare your beliefs to religion though. The defining characteristic is they are based on faith not on evidence. When you reject the evidence offered from science and medicine then all you have left is "faith".

Wrong again. The relevant case law is Grainger vs Nicholson, which was about belief that climate change is real and important. "Belief" does not imply no evidence. http://www.oldsquare.co.uk/news-and-media/news/old-square-acting-in-two-prominent-cases-involving-transgender-issues …

I didn't actually say that "Belief" implies no evidence. I said you comparing your beliefs to religion is an admission on your part that YOUR beliefs have no evidential basis!

No I am arguing that my belief is covered under the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristic of "religion or belief". This does not imply or require lack of evidence underpinning the belief.

In any case your beliefs are not compatible with the fundamental rights of other people therefore are NOT protected!

Well that is for the Employment Tribunal to decide. Which makes it an important test case for establishing a precedent for how organisations can avoid discriminating both against people who believe that gender identity is important, and people who don't share that belief.

Having a gender identity isn’t a belief though. It’s an objective reality and supported by decades of medical and psychological evidence. A gender identity is also recognised but the ECtHR as protected under Article 14.

What are the objective criteria for identifying someone's gender identity?

The mountains of research over 50 plus years... of course there’s been decades more research if it wasn’t for the Nazis who burned it all! Objectively the way trans people react to hormones is a confirmation - cis people given cross sex hormones react badly, trans people thrive!

Saying people are cis assumes they have a gender identity. Most people in the world don't take cross sex hormones so how do they know if they have a gender identity? Not all people who say they experience a gender identity seek to take hormones.
