That’s an extraordinary take. You are saying that men wishing to be identified as women, who can then compete in women’s sport events, will have no advantage unless you see evidence ?https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/02/womens-sports-transgender-athletes-controversy-martina-navratilova/ …

This is bizarre. You’ve already conceded that men have an advantage over women in most sports. Why does identifying as women remove that advantage?

Because there are rules around hormone levels etc.

Adopted on the flimsiest of evidence base which didn’t support the hypothesis that hormones remove advantage. Furthermore, what has come in since the rules has adopted supports the hypothesis that advantages remain after hormone suppression. But point this out and yr a bigot!

As I have said multiple times if it is the case that trans women athletes have an advantage that can be demonstrated. I have no fixed views on this. If there is evidence that trans women are disproportionately successful it would affect my view but I would like some evidence.

Thanks for clarifying. So your view is that males have an advantage but that this is lost when hormones are reduced as per Olympic guidelines? Please look out for the upcoming vid of @fondofbeetles #wpukFairPlay talk which surveys the available evidence in an accessible manner.

My view is that I would like to see some evidence that trans women athletes are disproportionately successful and I will read any such evidence with great interest.

Women are trying to collate the evidence because no-one else it. Any reports that women’s org put together will be slammed as biased and transphobic - as in the prison report. Mhairi, can’t you see what is happening?

If you want to exclude trans women from sporting competitions it is up to you to make that case.

Shouldn't the direction of evidence be the other way? No one is excluded from the open category, but males are excluded from the female category. Why should some males be allowed to into female sports without clear evidence that makes that case?

I think that's an important question: on whom does the burden of proof rest?
