I think the issue is that 'beliefs' are a protected characteristic. I don't think the legislature or judiciary ever contemplated that people might be discriminated on the basis of facts. Hitherto, our law has always been fact-based. The GRA 2004 changed that.
Yes belief is a protected characteristic. In Grainger vs Nicholson [2010] the Employment Appeal Tribunal set out the criteria. It does not preclude beliefs based on fact (this case was belief in man made climate change). Belief in Scottish nationalism has also passed the test.pic.twitter.com/QfjwzguvZ5

But u can also be discriminated against by association. It sounds like the lesbians were discriminated against based on sexual orientation - as stated on their t-shirts (and for saying this relates to sex not gender ID) & the others in the group for being in the same party
