I'm not sure if we are agreeing, disagreeing or getting confused by words! There are *not* people who are neither male nor female sex. Everyone is either male or female. I.e. it is binary. Athena Swan makes the mistake of calling this gender when what they really mean is sex....
When Athena SWAN was established it was advance careers of women in STEM because females are underrepresented. The category affected is female people (sex) not people who identify with femininity (gender expression or identity).

Right, it's expanded its remit. But it still includes womens advancement in HE. And the nature of women has not changed. Women are still disadvantaged as a sex. And sex is still binary.
