It’s disappointing, I agree. My impression is that many economists are either unaware of the debate; believe it doesn’t affect their work (small numbers etc), or are staying away for fear of offending students & colleagues. It needs to change.

Yes, for many it doesn't affect their work directly (altho I bet when they use 'gender disaggregated' data they understand it means sex). But it affects integrity of research institutions & policy debate - in which they have a stake. I hope more stand up. I'm beyond disappointed.
