On the contrary, it mandates a change of the "civil status" of sex, based on a diagnosis alone. (There is no ECHR self-ID mandate. There is a PACE recommendation, which is not binding).

The exception that must be invoked to have such services or spaces is section 28 of the EA2010, and indeed it was not contested in the ECHR. Section 27 on its own refers to legal sex.

So Schedule 3 s.27 where the first example it gives is about cervical cancer screening services is referring to legal sex?
How does that work??1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

This thread is going all over the place, but you still haven't answered my question about how S.27 is referring to legal sex when its first example is about cervical screening.

The simple answer here is that sometimes the law can not be fully coherent. The law can only refer to legal sex, there is no such thing as any other sex in law, except if *explicitly* mentioned.pic.twitter.com/Xgobo53Ced

After the Big Mothering Hole in Ireland, I believe they can make worse mistakes than that. Basically, someone forgot about the GRA when drafting the legal text, and so included an example that does not exactly work with the GRA.

The GRA requires explicit law to be overridden. So, if you are arguing legislative intent, that intent must also have been explicit! Besides, with your reading of s27, there would e no need for s28.

Different bit of the Equality Act for that.
