In what way is their behaviour aligned to your principle that "there’s room in this world for everyone" and "we don’t defend our rights and identities by attacking or belittling those of others"?
Because they were responding to people who were attacking trans people.
They were standing on the steps saying things like "lesbians are same sex attracted", "lesbians don't have penises", "we are pro-women, not anti-trans". To which the response was "fuck off TERFs you are not welcome here".
