Do we now know that’s definitely what they were doing? It’s certainly what I’ve inferred from the evidence. We KNOW they have at least 150 on staff with no understanding of BASIC SAFEGUARDING!
They say it was a failure of systems and processes. And they say (in the second to last paragraph!) that "we have not provided staff with appropriate processes" for opening relationships with new volunteers. Or at least not for celebrity volunteers?pic.twitter.com/VZwQITG4rH
That seems to me like the most important bit (buried right at the bottom). Why on earth do they NOT have a process which says NOBODY (no matter how charismatic, famous etc..) can volunteer for NSPCC without first doing this basic safeguarding module and being assessed? @NSPCC
Noone who respects & understands child protection would consider recruiting volunteers without there being a robust safeguard check. A team which doesn't have a process means a team who dont understand child abuse. There's a historical CSA inquiry going on fgs!
