Sober piece by @jameskirkup on what happened with @nspcc & Bergdorf & the shameful way most media have covered this https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/06/munroe-bergdorfs-sacking-and-the-failure-of-the-media/ ….pic.twitter.com/MOzzX1deYG

When are we going to learn that no one should get to be outside of safeguarding rules? Not celebrities. Not heroes. Not religious leaders. Not people who are on your political, or ideological or ethnic team. And that we are all prone to look the other way & allow rules to be bent
Attention should now be on the NSPCC: allowing people to become volunteers without safeguarding assessment & training and trying to silence people raising concerns about an employee's concerning lack of boundaries. Will the media cover this?https://twitter.com/SVPhillimore/status/1139186612506714112 …
Also just rereading the final sentence from OJ's piece "Drag is a “cultural phenomenon” that had no age limit. “There is absolutely nothing wrong with kids playing dress-up if that’s what they want to do".
This is in regard to questions to Bergdorf about this 10 year old child dancing on stage at a club where adults give them dollar bills. This is not "kids playing dress up" @guardianhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgq7MNasA9Q …
And then there is the @nscpcc changing their definition of sexual abuse, so that it is only abuse if the child is "worried" or "frightened". What about children who are groomed into thinking it is normal or loving? No. No. No.pic.twitter.com/jNnExTSRK3
