There is no such thing as "less of a woman" or "more of a woman". Its not a quantitative thing. Men also experience hardships and discrimination. We can recognise this. It does not make them "less of a man" etc...

Exactlymy point. So why can’t this apply for trans women.

This person appears to be arguing that because their hypothetical risk factors of experiencing these particular female hardships are nil, they should not be treated as women?

No. She is not (she is not here having been thrown off twitter so i'll take the liberty of saying what i think she is saying). She is saying that being a woman is a material reality. There are specific risks and vulnerabilities associated with that material reality, and...

... therefore there are specific (hard fought for) legal protections for women as a sex. These are not based on 'gender identity' - you cannot identify into or out of these specific risks & vulnerabilities so they should remain tied to the material reality of sex.

Anyway, as i promised i won't go on. But please do read the
@WG_Scotland report. I think consideration of the risks and impacts on women & girls needs a real analysis. If you've seen one that supports your 'miniscule risk' conclusion please share it.1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes - 2 more replies
