5) More recognition that other children have a legitimate expectation of privacy. Old guidance said 'ideal' was 'transchildren' sharing cubicled facilities of their 'true gender'. New guidance suggests separate unisex options where possible so that everyone is comfortable.

6) Old guidance was developed in partnership with Mermaids and the Gender Trust, with prominently featured logos and suggested "referring children to organisations such as Mermaids". New guidance still links to Mermaids but with less endorsement.

The new guidance is not perfect but it is a big improvement. It still refers to trans children rather than children with gender dysphoria, and it could link to
