Gender critical feminists (& anyone who recognises that bodily privacy from from members of the opposite sex is appropriate in some situations and that sex matters for fairness in sport) are not trying to deny trans people rights or identity.
Male people don't have right to compete in women's sport or to be in spaces where women are undressing, sleeping or otherwise vulnerable. The letter correctly says the single sex exemption can be used for sleeping accommodation. Unfortunately the YHA has chosen instead to allow people to use their shared sleeping accommodation on the basis of gender self-ID. So any man could say he's a woman and use a women's dorm.
