These wise doctors are intersectional feminists, Maya? Who have a really good understanding of the lives childhood experiences of LGBTIQ+ people? Medicalised approaches to human nature is always sceptical at first. Feminist health analysis is littered with examples

Thus is about the question of whether children experiencing gender dysphoria "know their true gender", not LGB or I...

These doctors work with children experiencing GD and with adults undertaking medical and/or social transition, and are being pressured to affirm the idea of true gender identity and to medicalise young people on that basis

Doctors being asked to treat children in the gender identity they express?! How harmful! Shocking to treat children as the most informed person in the room about themselves... Children’s rights are human rights

Drs are being pressured to put children on hormone blockers and on a pathway to taking cross sex hormones and having surgery that will leave them sterilised and with compromised sexual function, with poor evidence of long term benefit

None of these concerns are from people who dismiss human rights, including children's rights. Calling for investigation and evidence rather than rush to pharma & surgical solution to children feeling psychological distress & dissociation from their healthy body is not "phobic"

You’re saying under 18 year olds are being given surgery?

Under 18s are being given blockers and hormones which interfere with their healthy body's normal development, and put them on a pathway towards surgery at a young age. There is a lack of evidence of benefit from this radical pathway for dealing with feelings of dysphoria

It’s not the “surgical solution” you cited earlier though, is it. There is evidence that treatment and support saves lives. Mental health is as real as physical health and the ‘medicalisation is bad’ mantra you keep staring is failing to take account for that

Yes. These are *mental health specialists* saying they are under pressure *not* to give young people support which explores *why* they feel distress about their body, but instead to comply with the idea that "children know their true gender" for which there is no evidence...

... and to give support for courses of pharma & anticipated surgery which are not supported by evidence base, that this treatment improves *or* saves lives compared to less radical pathways which do not impact brain development, fertility & sexual function at an early age

Sharron and many concerned people are asking for govt & researchers to look into why so many children (especially girls) are suddenly wanting to transition, and what the evidence bases for treatment options are. This is not "disgusting, unacceptable bigotry"
