I backed the funding campaign to support people's right to express their views about gender self-ID. I don't have set views on the issue, + don't know the details of the case. But working through the pros+cons requires space for reasoned debate https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/lost-job-speaking-out … @MForstater

I agree that we need to collect sex and gender data (and maybe in some cases even sexuality data). I agree we should have a discussion about it, mainly because most people don't understand the issue. However, I found Maya's post doing more harm than good to the topic.

We don't usually talk about doing harm or good to a *topic*. Topics are matters of conversation. "X was inaccurate, confusing, wrong because Y", "I disagree w their premis or conclusion because Z..." yes. But just stating someone talking about a topic "harms the topic" ?

maya, the words you use to describe people question their fundamental human rights. this is not encouraging conversation. sure, there is room for debate around the topic of gender vs. sex. one-sided discussions like the ones you have presented and promoted remain unproductive.

Sarah, you use the word TERF transphobic to describe gender critical people (presumably specifically me here?) https://twitter.com/SarahEOV/status/1125859149353558018?s=19 … Are you aware that "TERF" is associated with threats of violence against women? This is not encouraging conversation. https://terfisaslur.com

Sarah Orton-Vipond @SarahEOVEngaging w/#TERFs online is fruitless. I'm also disheartened by the HUGE amounts of money raised in the name of transphobic "feminism" - I'm donating to orgs that support trans rights because I care about#intersectionalfemimism. Here's a list if you want to do the same!Show this thread2 replies 0 retweets 1 like
