If I win my case it will also mean that social media platforms, in the UK would have to think again about discriminating against people for gender critical beliefs. And political parties and membership organisations. And meeting venues.

They should already be heeding the Equality Act ...But many leave *sex* out of their equality policy. As
@joannaccherry pointed out to@katyminshall@twitter excludes sex as a protected characteristic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z12skixI_5s&feature=youtu.be … & tolerates violent threats to women4 replies 23 retweets 84 likesShow this thread -
Joanna Cherry's questioning of Twitter was extraordinary. (Not least because an MP saying ‘f**k’ & ‘c**t’ in parliament ought to be newsworthy).
@jameskirkup did a great write up https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/05/at-last-an-mp-brave-enough-to-say-twitter-hates-women/ … - but otherwise it barely made the papers2 replies 37 retweets 120 likesShow this thread -
If you are wondering why so many, mainly left wing progressive, feminist women are standing up and challenging what seems like inclusivity. It is not to be mean. Its not to make people feel bad (& many will use whatever pronouns in a social setting that make ppl comfortable)

Its about the ability to describe what is going on, and the power involved. And what is going on Twitter is that women are being silenced, threatened and abused for speaking out about male violence & about the mental health of vulnerable young people.

If you thought this was about being pro- or anti-trans, or about feminist infighting or twitter skirmishes you haven't been paying enough attention. That's understandable. Because we are all busy & the media & orgs you trust didnt tell you this matters https://twitter.com/anyabyke/status/1125682036998574081 …

Replying to @MForstater
This is *exactly* about being anti-trans. You were sacked for an anti-trans political position. If you did not express it at work to a degree that would break rules, the sacking was wrong. But do look into the firing of James Damore and see if you can articulate the difference.

You were sacked for anti-trans political views. How is it not about them?

Thinking that sex is immutable & is important for public policy, & believing that people do not all have an innate gender identity is not "anti-trans". If you believe these things it does not mean you think ill of people who transition, or are against their human rights
