@joannaccherry asks @twitter why *sex* is not covered in their hateful conduct policy, why women get suspended for quoting the law and why threats of violence are allowed to stand. Not many answers though https://parliamentlive.tv/event/index/0364bfc3-5adc-4aef-99bd-48c68daacc38?in=15:27:30&out=15:50:30 …

The US never ratified the ERA, but in both employment &housing, sex are protected classes (gender/gender identity aren’t) it’s why Twitter includes sex on their EOC statement to help prevent lawsuits, so they do actually know that “gender &gender identity” =/= sex.pic.twitter.com/5A3ZpqrmEC

Note that sex is included twice, under “equal pay” and under “sex”. All big companies include these categories on their statements tho some like twitter add gender and gender id and/or others.pic.twitter.com/x8aOSMUcAG

I expect they maybe looked at this... https://www.unfe.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/UN-Standards-of-Conduct.pdf …. It doesn't make it at all clear if they mean companies should *also* not discriminate on the basis of sex, or if gender identity and "sex characteristics" (menstruators etc...
) *replace* sexpic.twitter.com/zKIj0wYyKV
