Yes just reading this! @Docstockk writes so clearly, compassionately and pragmatically. I agree with much of what she says. But I am not so sure about the conclusion that the social fictionalisation of changing sex does justify the legal fiction of sex-change

The original reason for the legal fiction of changing sex (Goodwin v UK) was because of the right to privacy and the right to marry. It makes sense that people have a general right to privacy against revealing their sex where it is not relevant, but not an absolute right to privacy or forcing others to accept fictionalisation (otherwise other protections like single sex services cannot be maintained)
